MAY UPDATE

By | June 29, 2024

We have had a lot of sickness the last couple of months with colds and flu, but we are thankful for the Lord’s help through this time. Please keep Reitha in your prayers, she is sick again. We believe this is an attack of the enemy against our family to hinder the work here.

At the beginning of the month Reitha talked to Eugene. He is making some major decisions in his life. She encouraged him to give his life to the Lord an explained to him that the Lord cares about us and how we can cast our cares upon the Him for He cares for us. We are hoping that he will accept Christ as his personal Saviour.

In the post for Feb/March, we mentioned a musl*m lady by the name of Rosemeem. She is going through a very difficult time in her life right now. We went to visit her and her husband, but he did not come out to talk. With the Lords help we have tried to extend our love to them. The Lord has given us opportunities to share the truth of the Gospel in various ways with Rosemeem. Please pray against the strongholds in this family and that the Lord will reveal to them that Jesus truly is the Messiah.

We had another opportunity to talk to Andre, one of our neighbors about the Lord. He is a very respectful young man, but he needs Jesus. He will be moving soon, but we hope he will come to the church services here at our house. Here is a tract we gave to him. We also gave one to him to give to his father, who is an atheist.

Bruno and Rose are Grandparents of a couple of the children who come to Bible class. They usually come to the church service that we have once a month. They did not have a Bible in their Native language, so we purchased one for them. The night we gave it to them, we asked them if they had given their lives to the Lord. Thank the Lord they have! They are from the Philippines and will have to go back in August. We have enjoyed getting to know them and will miss them when they leave.

Youth Night

Due to illness, we were not able to have youth night in April, so we had it two times in May. The second time we had it Emily, our neighbors’ sister, came for the first time. Her mother is Buddhist but is allowing her to come. We praise the Lord for this! Reitha asked about giving her a Bible and she accepted it. Our prayer is that she reads it and that the Holy Spirit will speak to her. The study that night was about our lives being like a vapor. We talked about how if we live 80 or 90 years, that is but a short time compared to eternity. During the lesson, we mentioned Adam and Eve, their sin, and how Jesus came to take our sins upon Himself. We encouraged the young people to give their lives to the Lord if they had not already done so. Reitha noticed that Emily was intently listening. Our prayer is that she will continue to come and learn about the love that Christ has for her.

We have seen a couple of these girls really growing in the Lord. Shikinah, the girl in the front on the right side, had a friend at school who was an atheist. She talked to her about the Lord, and she got saved. They had to do a podcast project together for school, and they did the podcast about the the Bible. In the podcast this friend said, “We believe the Bible has the power to transform lives.” Shikinah also gave another friend at school her Bible. Since Shikinah has given her heart to the Lord, she said my musl*m friends do not want to be around me. Her mother is really happy about how she is growing in the Lord. We are so proud of what the Lord is doing in her life.

Clouie, seated next to Shikinah, has an alarm set on her phone to read the Bible every day. These girls are from Catholic families. It is amazing what God is doing in their lives!

Later in the month

Radio Ministry

For over 50 years, the Institute for Creation Research (ICR) scientists have conducted research related to the questions of origins and Earth history. ICR produces a daily (M-F) 1-minute radio broadcast Back to Genesis. They also produce Science, Scripture & Salvation, a weekly 14-minute radio broadcast featuring the scientists and speakers from the Institute for Creation Research. In this they discuss creation, evolution, apologetics, and many other topics of interest to Christians. We are now broadcasting both of these programs. Pray with us that souls will be drawn to Christ through these and the other programming that we are airing. To listen to Grace Radio, click here.

Bible Class

This month in Bible Class we talked about Jesus being tempted by Satan and different ways we can be tempted. Last month we mentioned about some children from Buddhist families who came to Bible class. The mother of two of them told Shawn that they really enjoyed the class, she thanked him repeatedly for it. They were not able to come this month because of a math tutoring class but praise the Lord their schedule has changed and they will be able to attend in the future. Please help us pray that we can reach this family for Christ.

Bible Study

Praise the Lord for 21 who attended for Bible study. Eugene was able to join us for the last time before he moved farther South. There was a sweet presence of the Lord during the time of prayer as we prayed for each family. We are so thankful for these families who are coming. Our house was very packed, which is a good problem. We do hope more families will join us. If this happens, we will need to rent a building.

While we were having the Bible study with the adults, Reiawna and Sharei did a Bible story with the children and youth. Here Reiawna, Shikinah, and Clouie are dressed up to act out the story of Jacob and his wives.

Gabby helped Sharei with a story for the children.

Monthly Church Service

Due to rain, we had to have the church service inside this month. So thankful for 8 people who came to the service. Afterwards we had a good time of prayer for Mark and his dad Bruno. What a sweet presence of the Lord that we felt! Both Mark and his dad has been having physical problems. A few days after we had prayed, they both said that they were feeling better. Praise the Lord for His healing touch!
