JUNE/JULY UPDATE

By | August 8, 2024

Once again, we would like to thank everyone who has blessed us with their prayers and generous donations for this ministry. Your giving is necessary to help this ministry continue here in New Zealand, and we are truly thankful for your ongoing support. One need that we have is for more tracts. One tract we can get here conveys the Gospel message thoroughly. If we buy a case of 2,000 the price is around $450.00. If you would like to contribute to this area of the ministry, it would be greatly appreciated.

We are truly grateful for the moving of God’s Spirit we have witnessed recently. It has been wonderful to see the souls that have been saved over the last couple of months. In the children’s Bible class for June, 5 of the kids raised their hands for salvation. Wendel, one of the men who comes to Bible study came to a special Filipino mission service at the church we attend. At the end of the service, the pastor gave a salvation invitation. Wendel did not respond, but Reitha felt the Lord dealing with her to talk to him after the service. When she finished talking to him, she asked him if he would like to pray. He said yes and prayed a sinner’s prayer with her. We praise the Lord for this answered prayer! At the July church service, 3 people raised their hands for salvation, Aria, Christine, and Mark. Please keep each of these in your prayers that they will continue to grow in the Lord.

Reitha, Reiawna, and Sharei went to our Hindu neighbors, Lelita and Sunny. Reitha took the opportunity to witness to Lelita. However, she is not open to the Gospel. She said something along the lines of, you have your god and I have mine. Please pray that God will break down the stronghold of this false religion in their lives.

Last month, we mentioned Rosemeem and how she is dealing with family issues. During a recent visit with her, she mentioned that her son, Rayyan, is having difficulty coping with the situation and is unable to sleep well at night. Please continue to pray that Rosemeem and Pushaun will be saved and that their marriage will be restored.

Eugene, the young man we mentioned previously, has returned home to Malaysia. We are staying in touch with him and have encouraged him to find a good church to attend.

Children’s Bible Class

We praise the Lord for the children and the parents who are coming to the Bible class. In July four of the girls who regularly attend were out of town, but we still had 18 people there.

The two girls 2nd from left came to Bible class for the first time in June.
Julia and Bryan.
Darius and Declan.

We have been able to give Children’s story Bibles to some of the kids who come to Bible class. We asked Julia and Bryan’s mother for permission to give them the Bible. She said “Yes, I can read it also.” Please pray with us for this family that they will be open to the Gospel.

Youth Night

The girls from youth night spent the night with us and we made them an American breakfast, biscuits and gravy. We invited a few others to join us as well. For most of them, it was their first time eating this kind of food.

Making iced coffee.

Bible Study

We celebrated Reitha and Rhica’s birthday at the Bible study in June. After we sang Happy Birthday to them, we found out that three more people had birthdays in June as well.

Reiawna and Sharei teach the kids while we have Bible study. Reiawna came up with a good idea of giving each child so many pieces of candy before class began. If they misbehaved a piece was taken from their bag. This did work and most of the kids did behave.

Street Outreach

One Friday night we joined the outreach team from the Ethiopian church in downtown Auckland to pass out tracts. One of the Ethiopians started talking to a Japanese man who was dealing with a lot of fear in his life. Shawn was able to talk to him as well. After talking to him we prayed with him and gave him a Japanese/English Bible. We trust he will read it and give his life to the Lord.

Hope Center

We are still working at the food bank. All the food that has come in has been a great blessing to many people.

Ethiopian Church

Pastor Wollega from the Ethiopian church.

There have been a couple of times when our funds have been low, but God came through right on time. Recently, when this happened, the Ethiopian church we are working with blessed this ministry and us personally. We are thankful for our board members as well who have personally given to this work during these difficult times. This ministry could not have continued without their help!

A lesson on peace with God.
An object lesson on trusting God.

Church Service

Reitha has been able to speak with our neighbor, Aria, several times about the Lord. In July she attended our church service for the first time. She was one of the individuals who gave their life to the Lord that morning. Later, Reitha asked her if she had peace, and she said yes. She said that the sermon was exactly what she needed. She is planning on attending church with us. We have learned that being persistent in witnessing and not giving up on someone pays off.
