JULY UPDATE

By | August 20, 2023

It is hard to believe that 2023 is already half over, time is flying by. God is continuing to open doors for us, we are truly grateful!

YOUTH CHOIR

We are proud of the young people that are involved in the choir. Many of the youth seem to be very shy and unwilling to participate in singing. The ones who have joined the choir have done very well!

Reitha’s Sunday School Class.

Hewitt, on the right in the picture and Hosanna, on the left come to the church but their parents do not come. One day Hewitt told Sharei that she wanted a Bible but her mother would not get here one. We brought Bibles and gave them to them.

RADIO MINISTRY

We are happy to announce that we are now broadcasting Your Story Hour stories on the radio station.

In last month’s post we asked you to pray for our neighbor Roy. We want to say thank you for your prayers. He has now moved from the hospital to a rehabilitation center. We have tried to visit him every week. During one of those visits he said he feels peace about the future. He said, “I believe it is because of prayer that is not like me, I am by nature a very anxious person.” Thank the Lord for working in his life.

CHILDREN’S BIBLE CLASS

We are so thankful for these children and their parents who are faithfully coming to the Bible class. This month we talked about Moses at the burning bush. We had two of the young boys represent Moses and God. We are also thankful for their willingness to participate.

Last month we mentioned about Gabby, one of the 6 year old girls who attends Bible class. She had talked to her Buddhist friend about how Jesus protects us. Recently her mother told us that she has been talking to some Muslim friends about Jesus as well. Her mother told us that she read the entire picture Bible we gave her within a short time. Her mother sent us this video of her recently singing the song we taught the Bible class for our Christmas program last year.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY

We did the Bible study in two sections again this month because some were not able to come at the regular time. These Bible studies have opened up opportunities of discussion. During one of the sessions we talked about how doing good works is not enough. One of the ladies said, that was an awakening for her. At another session one of the men asked if all sin is the same, is some greater than others? We told him sin is sin. One of the ladies asked about telling a white lie to not hurt someone’s feelings. We explained that all lies are sin. Reitha mentioned the scripture that says, all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. We sometimes take for granted that everyone knows these things, but not everyone does. We are so thankful the Lord is speaking to their hearts!

While we are doing the Bible study our girls take care of the children. This month Reiawna told the story of David and Goliath and Sharei did a scripture puzzle with them.

STREET OUTREACH

We are thankful for the opportunities we have had to speak with different ones on the streets. One night we met a young boy, about 12 or 13 years old, by the name of Deon. His friend, who was with him, is a Christian. The friend told me he is trying to convince him that Jesus is real. One of the Ethiopians that we go out ministering with, and myself talked to him about God creating this world and that Jesus His Son died for our sins. At first, he did not want to pray, but before he left he prayed a prayer of repentance.

Later that evening I talked with another man, Gordon. He said he had left his wife and children and is with another woman. He also said he has no peace. I told him that he will not have peace until he is right with God. He took our phone number and said he would come to church with us sometime. Please pray with us that He will come

We are so happy that one of the girls, Andrea, who comes to the Bible class has started going with us to evangelize on the street. One day at Andrea’s school some people were passing out New Testaments to the school kids. Her and her friend, who also comes to Bible class, were talking together and trying to figure out a way to spread the Gospel. Andrea said those people who were passing out Bibles inspired her. We praise the Lord for this! God is moving in Andrea’s heart to reach the lost. She loves going out with us to the street and told Reiawna she wants to go out every day.

Another evening after we finished passing tracts, we gathered in a circle to pray. When we looked up there was a man by the name of James standing there by us. He said I was listening to you praying. We began talking to him. We explained the plan of salvation to Him and he repeated the sinners prayer with us. We invited him to come to church with us. We hope and pray that he will come!

We are so grateful for the souls that the Lord has brought our way. Some will not listen to the truth of the Gospel; however, this is proof that some will. We have to be faithful to continue planting the seed and believe God will bring an increase of souls.

BIBLE DISTRIBUTION

We were able to pass out Bibles at a local school this month. We are thankful for all the children that took a Bible. However, one young M*slim girl took a Bible after a few minutes she brought it back and said, “I can’t take this, I’m M*slim.” As she was walking away Reitha told her, “Jesus loves you.” It saddens us that she had the truth in her hands, but she felt that she needed to give it back. We trust the Lord will soften the hearts of these students and their parents that they will receive the truth of the Gospel.

We were able to take our neighbor, Cristy, and her girls to church with us one Sunday morning. Cristy went to the altar regarding her husband who had to have a couple toes amputated because of a work accident. The Lord really touched her. The following Sunday Cristy and her youngest daughter, Andrea, came with us to a special youth service. At the end of the service they asked those who wanted to be saved to come forward. A couple young men came forward for prayer. Reitha went over to where Andrea was sitting and began talking to her. She asked her if she wanted to be saved, she said yes. She repeated the sinner’s prayer with Reitha. We praise the Lord for this, and since then she has went with us to pass out tracts in the city. We really believe the Lord is doing a work in her life! Her dad made a comment to her mother that lets us know that He has seen a change in her as well.

NURSING HOME SERVICE

Reiawna was not able to attend the nursing home service, so Sharei played and sang by herself. We are so proud of her.
